Retail Cloud Connect™ Setup and Integration Guides

Set up Retail Cloud Connect for Shopify and Agentforce Commerce with guides to Google Cloud search, recommendations, catalog imports, filters, and billing.

Retail Cloud Connect™ by Nimstrata connects Shopify and Agentforce Commerce (formerly Salesforce Commerce Cloud B2C or SFCC) stores to the Google Cloud Retail API for AI Commerce Search and Recommendations AI. These guides cover catalog imports, storefront search, collection pages, product recommendations, analytics, and billing.

Merchants can follow the Shopify setup sequence below. Agencies can use the theme and product-card guides to prepare storefront changes, while developers can refer to the Google Cloud documentation for the data, events, and serving configurations behind each experience.

Choose a Shopify or Agentforce Commerce Integration

Integration Where to begin
Shopify App Install the Retail Cloud Connect Shopify App, import products, and configure storefront App Blocks.
Agentforce Commerce Cartridge Connect an Agentforce Commerce storefront to Google Cloud search and recommendations.
Google Cloud Product Discovery Understand AI Commerce Search, Recommendations AI, and the Google Cloud Retail API.

The Agentforce Commerce cartridge imports catalog data into Google Cloud and serves results on the storefront. Its installation guide covers the platform-specific setup; Shopify theme instructions apply to Shopify stores only.

Install Retail Cloud Connect™ on Shopify

The default Shopify installation uses a Nimstrata-managed Google Cloud environment, with billing through Shopify. After installation, entering an email address and selecting Get Started creates the store connection and starts catalog discovery and import. The page can be closed once the import has started; larger catalogs may take longer to process.

Merchants managing their own Google Cloud project should choose Advanced or Enterprise User? before starting the default flow. That path requires a Google Cloud billing account and guides the team through project creation, API activation, permissions, and connection verification. Each Shopify store requires its own Google Cloud project.

Configure Catalog Data, Filters, and Storefront App Blocks

After the first import begins, complete the setup in this order:

  1. Filters & Data — map product attributes, collections, tags, and metafields, then choose shopper-facing filters. Advanced Settings covers exclusions, variant expansion, description sources, and category enrichment.
  2. Translations — configure translated product content, App Block copy, product-card copy, and filter labels for storefront languages.
  3. Product Card Builder and Layout Settings — configure product presentation, filter placement, sorting, and other storefront controls.
  4. Theme Installation — enable Core Components and the App Pixel for user events, then install search, collection, and recommendation App Blocks. Dynamic Autocomplete uses its own App Embed.
  5. Billing — select a plan and complete Shopify's charge confirmation to activate it.

App Blocks work best with Shopify Online Store 2.0 themes. Before launch, check search and collection templates for duplicate results sections, confirm the intended theme is selected, and test filters, product links, and translated labels on desktop and mobile. The installation guide explains how unpublished theme work affects status checks.

For subsequent design changes, optional Storefront Settings Profiles let teams prepare and compare alternate Autocomplete, Product Card, and Layout settings before promoting them to Production. This provides a separate review step for storefront presentation changes after the initial installation.

Understand Google Cloud Search and Recommendation Settings

Catalog data describes products; User Events capture shopper interactions used for model training and personalization. AI Commerce Search and Browse Results cover query and collection experiences. Recommendations AI explains model choices and their data requirements.

Serving Configurations connect requests to search or recommendation settings. Serving Controls, Facet Controls, Dynamic Facets, and Attribute Controls explain merchandising and filtering behavior. These references help teams distinguish a catalog-mapping issue from a storefront-layout or model-configuration issue.

Monitor Search Queries and Resolve Setup Issues

Shopify Analytics reports popular product queries with and without results, plus document-search terms where enabled. Merchants can filter by date and language and export tables as CSV. Reviewing no-result queries can reveal missing catalog attributes, product gaps, or terms that need merchandising attention.

For measuring changes beyond query reports, A/B Testing Results explains the advanced Google Cloud workflow. It is separate from the standard in-app Analytics reports.

The FAQ covers billing and Google Cloud IAM permissions. Release Notes record product changes, and System Status provides uptime and incident history. For implementation assistance or an unresolved issue, contact Nimstrata with the affected store, setup stage, and examples of the behavior.

Review Published Retail Cloud Connect™ Implementations

Nimstrata's published case studies provide concrete implementation context: Cotopaxi covers descriptive queries and product variation; WARDOW covers large collections, dynamic facets, and tailored product cards; and The Bee's Knees British Imports covers preserving existing filters and storefront styling during migration.

Each account describes its own catalog, implementation, and evaluation. Teams can use those examples to select representative queries and acceptance checks for their store. The Retail Cloud Connect™ product overview and Shopify App Store listing provide additional product and merchant-review context.
